Description
Out of sheer academic interest I wanted to see if I could print a particular compression spring with rectangular X-section sans supports - i.e., one with 48mm OD, 10 mm width and 8mm pitch in PETG. I succeeded but only with a bed contacting pad at each turn, which admittedly severely limits the springs range of motion. I had to carefully experiment with the diameter of the pads in an effort to keeping them at a minimum size and the part on the bed. You can see that I succeeded with the afore mentioned qualifier. This part design is also an excellent challenge for newcomers to the lovely world of CAD.
