Description
Multi - Diameter Launch Tower System.
This is a Tower launcher Head I developed for a camera tripod I was given. It has a center open zone or tube suitable for piston usage. The “tripod head assembly” consists of usually three (3) of the flat hex plates that are connected by ¼ 20 cap screws (typically 3in length). The hex plates are separated and connected by standoffs that connect the three levels or plates together as a rigid structure connected to the top of the tripod.
The diameter spacing are 18 mm, 40 mm (FAI), and 65 mm spacing for Egg Loft capsules. These diameters are based on a master center 18mm hole for optional piston tubes. I have been using and refined this system over a number of years. Recently I used my Tower/Tripod system at NARAM 66 (Muncie, IN) for my first FAI Parachute Duration contest in Team division.
PRINT FILES:
The Bottom Hex plate fits over the tripod and the tripod retaining hand cover screws it down in place. The diameter would be specific to your tripod of choice. Then two (2) of the Hex spacer plates are printed and stacked above the bottom plate. Guide rods are inserted at one of the three different diameter spacings to surround the rocket
Initially PLA was used then switched to PETG for more durable outdoor use.
