Overview


This TPU sample holder is designed for use in ultrasonic baths or laboratory sonicators, especially with glass vials. While styrofoam floats work well for plastic vials, they don’t grip glass securely and can cause samples to slip through. Glass vials are preferred for their better transmission of ultrasonic energy, and this TPU holder provides a flexible but firm grip to keep them in place while floating reliably on the water surface.

Features:

  • Two sizes: one for 24.5 mm vials, one for 27.5 mm vials
  • 120mm x 120mm x 20mm footprint
  • .STEP file included (no fillets) for easy adaptation to other vial sizes
  • Contact me if you need a different size but can’t edit CAD files – I’ll help if I have time

Print Recommendations:

  • Material: TPU 90A (flexible filament)
  • Infill: 5% for better floatation (lower will make it too flexible and risk a leak)
  • Wall thickness: 4 perimeters (with 0.4 mm nozzle)
  • Top/bottom layers: 6–7 layers to prevent water ingress
  • No supports needed
