A SAB chisel handle & holder based on the model by side5, redesigned for FDM printability without supports. Great for ergonomic panel line scribing on Gunpla model kits! Features include:
Collet-style grip
Knurled tip
End cap
Optional 4mm magnet slot (I personally don't use this, but the option is here if you like the extra secure hold)
Engraved text
Print Instructions
Shaft (plate 1)
Orientation: Standing up on the base.
Layer height: The threads need to be printed at 0.1mm. In the included print profile, the shaft is printed at 0.2mm with a layer height modifier at 80mm-88mm to print at the higher 0.1mm resolution.
Supports: None. Brim optional if you're worried about adhesion, since this is a tall and skinny model.
Text is added in the slicer. You can adjust the text in Bambu Studio by double-clicking the text, or by using the other print profile with pre-positioned text for all SAB chisel sizes.
Collar (plate 2)
Orientation: Standing up on the tip.
Layer height: The whole thing should be printed at 0.1mm for the inner threads and the knurling.
Supports: None. Brim optional if you're worried about adhesion, since this is a tall and skinny model.
If you are having issues with clearance, then adjust the X-Y hole compensation. If the model is too tight, increase the hole compensation. If the model is too loose, decrease the hole compensation. You'll need to adjust the X-Y contour compensation by the opposite amount, since the walls on this model are quite thin and won't slice properly if the hole compensation is too big.
Peg (plate 3)
This piece is optional if you want to seal the hole the magnets go into. About 3 magnets 4mm in diameter should fit.
Orientation: Standing up on the base.
Layer height: 0.2mm.
Supports: None. Brim optional if you're worried about adhesion, since this is a tall and skinny model.
Cap (plate 4)
Orientation: Standing up on the tip.
Layer height: 0.2mm.
Supports: None. Brim optional if you're worried about adhesion, since this is a tall and skinny model.
