Description
I have an old gas-fired central heating system in my roof space that I no longer use. The dampers on the ceiling vents do not seal very well and I can feel cold air coming from them occasionally.
I designed up a cover/cap to help seal the vents. It is a simple disc (hollowed out slightly to make room for the central damper control knob) that is held in place with three little tabs that hang onto the outer circular vent vane.
There are two sizes, a large and a small. My house had two larger vents and eleven small ones.
Simply place two of the tabs on the outer vent ring, flex the cap slightly and push up. The cap will snap satisfyingly into place.
I designed these caps in Onshape using parametric variables. If your vents are not the same size as mine (quite likely the case) you can alter the design to suit. The design can be accessed/copied at:
