Description
In our house, we loathe wasting money on liquid detergents that cost as much as a box of powdered detergent, and clean half as many loads. This dispenser was designed to hold our detergent in a closed box to alleviate some of the humidity issues encountered in a laundry room in Florida.
This detergent dispenser allows you to meter out precise amounts of filament in to your laundry detergent cup. Utilizing a hopper and a butterfly valve, this dispenser gives you precise control over how much detergent you dispense for each load.
Simply place your cup on the bullseye, and fire away! If your laundry room is humid, or your detergent clumps easily, you will occasionally have to stir the detergent. While I attempted to have a paddle design to agitate, nothing really did what I needed it to do. To that end, I've included a step file, and remixes are highly encouraged. If you have specific requests for changes, I'm happy to accommodate those requests as well! Happy printing, and may your laundry be ever-clean.
***Directions below relate to the version requiring heatset inserts and M3 x 8mm screws. Also included is a version that requires only CA/SuperGlue, hot glue, or your choice of adhesive to affix parts together. For an example of how this version fits together, please reference the .step file, included in the files section. ***

2 - 50mm (2 inch) pieces of filament

Assembly Instructions:
1.) Gather all required printed items, and BOM items
2.) Insert heatset inserts into Baseplate and Valve Body, as pictured below.
3.) Attach Valve Body and Top Plate to each other using 4 - M3 x 8mm screws. Ensure that the valve handle opening is facing forward. Then, using the remaining 4 - M3 x 8mm screws, attach the Top Plate to the Base Plate in the four corners, as pictured below.
4.) Apply CA glue to the lip on the bottom side of the Hopper. This part will mate to the ledge on the top plate from step 3.
5.) Place the Hopper on top of the top plate, ensuring a tight fit on the round opening at the bottom of the hopper. Some trimming/sanding may be required.
6.) After the adhesive has dried and set, fill your hopper with detergent, and start your laundry!
