Description
I recently went down the rabbit hole of designing my very own split ergonomic mechanical keyboard and this was the result! The HellSplit is a 40% split ortholinear keyboard with a vertical column stagger and asymetric layout powered by the Raspberry Pi Pico.
I designed this keyboard to be as thin as possible - the case comes in at just 12mm thick (or 20mm including Kailh low profile switches and keycaps!).
The case proudly displays the Pico at the top of the plate (and makes for easier handwiring) and uses cheap female usb-c breakout boards for the PC connection and connecting the two keyboard halves.
For now this is a handwire only keyboard project, not for the feint of heart but there are lots of great tutorials out there. I like to use KMK on my keyboards and have included an example firmware file to use with this board (assuming you wire the same as me).
