Description
For anybody that has tried to run TPU through the Prusa XL, you probably know that friction through the PTFE tube, the filament sensor and off the roll is difficult to deal with. There are a few solutions that I have seen, but I still wind up with under-extrusion periodically.
This got a bit more complicated than I was planning, but here is a very low friction solution. It clips onto the side of the XL extrusion. I used 6004 bearings for the filament travel because that is what I had. I also had to add 606ZZ bearings to the mid-point of the frame because the feed-point needed to pivot with the movement of the extruder.
So far, this has been working well. I even got Ninjekflex 85A TPU to run with no issues.
Printed everything in PETG with 15% infill and 3 perimeters.
