Description
We are planning a broadway-themed event for our daughter and my wife and I have been working on centerpiece ideas. After a lot of experimentation I have this design to share. It's a box with spaces to put a theater playbill cover, miniature stage lighting, and a table number.
I've tried to make it highly customizable to suite many different needs.
Assembly is quite straightforward, but there are a few small tricky parts that I wanted to share some insights about…
On the top of the box there are four small square holes where the accessory connector wedges mount. They may need a drop of glue depending on how tightly they fit for you - I tried to make them loose enough that they were easy to install, but the tradeoff is that sometimes they are too easy to remove.. I am using these as mounts for miniature led lights intended for dollhouses, as shown here. I am attaching them with tacky putty intended for hanging posters. In the photo I've used blue putty so that you can see what I'm doing, but it comes in black as well, and that is what I'd recommend for a black box like mine. You could also glue the lights directly to the connectors.
I found the playbill covers on playbill.com where they have cover images for a huge number of shows available for download. If you scale the playbill to 190mm tall it will be a perfect fit for the backing board. I recommend printing on heavy photo paper, and mounting it with a double-sided adhesive sheet. If you do this, the backing board with two playbill covers should fit perfectly in the mounting slot. You can also use foam core board if you prefer. I used a roll of 3m adhesive, but I'd recommend a repositionable double-sided adhesive if you can find one. Double-sided tape, or mounting dots should also work.
I have matching table numbers that fit the top of the box here https://www.printables.com/model/1360907-theater-themed-table-numbers-for-weddingsevents
