Description
These magnetic retaining caps are for keeping the CORE One acrylic top panel in place instead of the plastic rivets the printer normally uses. This makes removing the top cover much faster and more convenient. The caps each use 2 magnets to adhere over the exposed bolt on each of the top cover's corners, and to the adjacent side of the frame. The part is angled to 132.5 degrees to help push the top cover down for better sealing.
Make this print from a flexible material like TPU!
Nominally you will want to make 4 total caps. Because the bolts are not a perfect 45 degree right triangle to the corner, you will likely want to make 2 of each of the long and short caps, but it's entirely reasonable to have 4 identical caps in a more “windmill” pattern.
Each cap requires 2 10x3mm magnetic disks, like these ones from Amazon, as well as 2 spacers included in the model file.
When printing, you will need to have the printer pause where it begins to bridge over the slot to insert the magnet. At this point you will need to insert the magnets into their proper slots, and then insert the spacers over the magnets. The spacers should be as close to flush as possible! Once inserted, resume the print. Done correctly, the print will adhere the spacer in place as it prints over the top.
The included print GCode file has been tested and does work for me and includes the necessary pause to insert the magnets and spacers.
The Fusion360 file is included for modification.
