I designed these tools to add onto my Leatherman Wave+, and have been using them and tweaking them for at least a year. Please see the details below to successfully print and use each tool. PLEASE NOTE that they are not commercial grade tools, and will break if you use them foolishly.
Pocket Clip
- Printed out of Polycarbonate (I used Polymaker Polymax Tough PC) because other filaments tended to creep terribly after a month or two.
- I ended up needing to rely on the Leatherman Lanyard Ring to connect the clip to the knife after I was unable to print something thin enough to slide into the correct part of the knife that didn't break. https://www.amazon.com/Leatherman-934850-Quick-Release-Pocket-Lanyard/dp/B0002H49DA/
- The pocket clip needs to be printed in two parts, and the orientation of each part matters (see the image). Afterwards, each part needs to be fitted around the metal lanyard ring, and it should all be superglued together.
Comb
- Originally printed for my beard and mustache, but it works ok for (not too thick) hair in a pinch.
- Printed in nylon (I used Overture Easy Nylon).
- Surprisingly strong front to back, but if you dropped it when using it and it hits wrong, it would probably snap. I have been regularly using mine for over two years, however.
- Best if printed with a .4 or smaller nozzle.
- You will need to do some post-processing after it prints so it doesn't snag, and to knock down the layer lines. Look at the pic of my comb to see how smooth I made it.
- It fits in the same slot of the saw, on the outside. It cups the bolt head on that side. See the picture.
Scalpel Holders
- I made two types: first, a scalpel holder that goes in the Leatherman Bit Driver, and then when I wanted to use my bit driver for bits again, I made one that replaces the (useless) can opener next to the bit driver.
Leatherman Scalpel Holder for Bit Driver
- Works with #11 scalpels (maybe others, I didn't test it)
- Works just fine printed out of PLA+ because it's supported by the bit driver.
- You can keep the scalpel in the bit driver when you close the bit driver
Leatherman Scalpel Holder to Replace Can Opener
- MOST IMPORTANT POINT- I don't know if you can close this in your knife with the scalpel blade on unless you cut into the knife like I did (see the final pic). I did this cutting (with a Dremel wheel) for some other hair-brained knife mod: I don't remember what or when at this point. If someone wants to print this out and test it with a stock Wave+, I would appreciate it, and I will update the description.
- Printed out of Polycarbonate (I used Polymaker Polymax Tough PC).
- Will need some light post processing.
- Will hold a #11 AND a #10 scalpel blade (and probably others), BUT, it can only hold the (larger) #10 blade BLADE UP, meaning that it is very easy to slice your knuckle when you open it (see the pic labeled DUMB).
- Reasonably strong, but don't use it like a full-on pocket knife blade.
