Description

This is a remix which was made to include the ribbon cable for the Pi's camera while leaving the raspberry pi zero (2)'s heatsink facing outwards. To accomodate the flipped pi you will need to disassemble the back of the einsy cage and replace it with a new model, which I uploaded.

how to mount:

You'll have to solder 4 pins on the opposite side, as shown in the pictures (the fifth pin is not needed since it was only for mechanical stabilization)

The protruding piece which accommodated the micro USB cable in Krisas Man's original design was removed to make the surface flush and the two bottom left horizontal cuts have been made wider to make space for the ribbon cable.

Once the einsy half-cage is printed and mounted it's a bit tricky to insert the pi (see video), since you'll have to slightly bend the header pins from bottom to top -repeatedly, I used a pair of pliers- while pushing the pi from the other side.

If you have trouble placing the pi cover because the heatsink does not seem aligned, check that you're inserting the pi cover hinges inside the small squares of the einsy case from the outside (and not from beneath, between the pi and the einsy cage, like I did the first time, silly me).

You also may need to cut the pins protruding from the other side, if they prevent the door from closing. This can be done even when everything is mounted in its final place.

Print info

  • Pi cage-door: I used painted supports for the three protruding anchor points
  • Einsy cage: Painted supports for the inbuilt pi frame (long bridge)
