Description
Motivation
When building a temporary model railway bridge or ramp, you need pillars with various sizes.
Using Lego for this purpose did not look too realistic.
For this reason I designed a pluggable model railway pillar system, that allows you to create any pillar height you need.
For a more realistic look of the bridge I designed a rail element for the curved Rail-C radius R3 30° rails (24330).
Especially for trains with long passenger carriages the R3 curves give a more realistic impression.
The R3 curve elements are designed to match the R2 curve elements, so it is possible to realize a curved bridge/ramp with two parallel tracks.
This design allows a two colour design of the support element. By using a structured sheet metal for printing, you get a very realistic looking top surface for the paved side parts.
The elements fit on top of the modular Bridge pillar system and can be connected with snap-in-connectors.
The design leaves enough tolerance for the changing slopes needed for the bridge ramps.
The Märklin Rail-C system is intended to be used with for use with our design.
Printed with prusament PLA (Gentleman's Grey)
To build a complete ramp or bridge with ramps, you need quite a number of pillars and rail elements.
For one complete R3 curved rail support element (multi part) you need to print the following components:
[option A for smaller heatbeds: Base element split in two parts that fit on smaller printers]
1x H0_Bruecke_R3_30deg_Basis_v00_split.stl (base element part 1 and base element part 2)
or
[option B for larger heatbeds]
1x H0_Bruecke_R3_30deg_Basis_v00.stl (base element complete)
(print orientation: upright)
(colour: Gentleman's Grey)
1x H0_Bruecke_R3_30deg_Abdeckung_innen_v00.stl (Paveway inner radius)
(print orientation: top face facing downwards, structured metal sheet)
(colour: Grey)
1x H0_Bruecke_R3_30deg_Abdeckung_aussen_v00.stl (Paveway outer radius)
(print orientation: top face facing downwards, structured metal sheet)
(colour: Grey)
2x H0_Bruecke_Verbinder_v01.stl (snap-in-connector)
(print orientation: left or right side)
(colour: Gentleman's Grey)
Assembly
[Rail Support Element R3 30° v00 complete]
[ base element ]
[option A]
Step_1: The curved R3 rail support base element is printed in two parts (base_part_1 + base_part_2).
Step_2: You need to glue the two parts of the base element together
(the thin walls facing inward)
Hint: use the paveway parts for precise alignment of base_part_1 and base_part_2.
[option B]
On larger heatbeds the curved R3 rail support base element can be printed as a single part.
No additional processing is required.
[ paveway covers ]
Option 1: Use the full size paveway covers
Option 2: Use the half size paveway covers.
When the base element is ready, then you can assemble the paveway-parts.
Simply place the paveway-parts (inner+outer) in their related positions on the base element.
They simply can be snapped in.
(the paveway parts have a different radius and do only fit in exactly their related position)
The snap-in-connectors go into the small openings (left+right) at the ends of the rail support element.
The connected rail support elements fit on top of the pillar system.
Play & Enjoy!!!
