Egyptian Crown - Headpiece - Cobra

I made this Egyptian crown for a Halloween Pharaoh costume. It is made up of links that snap together so it is easy to print and easy to make crowns for different size heads. It includes an optional Cobra headpiece which can be glued to the crown. I've also included an example traditional crown link. All links snap together firmly but can also be glued once you get the size correct. The crown links have 12mm pockets for the rhinestones. I used red rhinestones but they also come in different colors at Michael's or Hobby Lobby. The crown is sized by fitting a piece of coat hanger around your head and the transferring the loop layout with pencil to a piece of wood which becomes the bending form. The strip of snapped together links is then quickly dipped in hot water (150 deg F) and bent around the wood form. If you don't have any wood, you could bend the links around something like a frying pan. Let the links cool on the form and they will hold their shape.

The crown is made of PLA which is easy to warm up and bend.Although the links snap together, I glued my links together with Gel type Super Glue. I then spray painted the crown with gold paint. The rhinestones are then glued into the pockets.

I printed my crown parts in PLA at 200C. You will need supports for both the links and the cobra. After printing, snap together the links and then gently form to shape in 150F water.
