Description
The weak point of the Team Losi Racing 22x4 4WD buggy has always seemed to be the front gearbox/bulkhead, often breaking to leave the shock towers ‘floating’ above, and the repair is not quick during a race event. These simple braces act as a bridge between the front shock tower mounting screws and the front gearbox mounting screws in order to reinforce the gearbox/bulkhead from breaking during a hard landing.
Longer screws are needed (2 X 14mm, 4 X 16mm M3), and front diff access is made a little more difficult, but the tradeoff seems well worth the piece of mind when racing.
I printed my braces from 3D Fuel black PCTG, because it is more impact resistant than PETG, for example. PCTG is more flexible/ductile, but with the thickness of these braces, this isn't an issue. I printed them flat on the build plate with supports under the areas as shown:
