Description
Air Insulating Can Holder
A comfortable and lightweight holder for a 500 ml can – perfect for barbecues, parties, and long summer evenings. It helps slow down the warming of your drink. I have tested the insulating properties and noticed a significant improvement compared to a can without insulation.
The can rests on five small pegs at the bottom and is held in place by two flexible inner rings. This limits direct contact between the can and the mug walls, helping to preserve the cold for longer. The top ring (printed in PLA) acts like a gasket – minimizing air exchange. The can fits snugly and doesn’t wobble.
The outside decorative rings are removable – you can mix and match colors and exchange the shape between my other project.
The model prints with organic or regular supports only under the handle and base.
This is a remix of my other can holder with the same core and different aesthetics.
Printing instructions
Material: PLA (or similar)

Infill: Gyroid
Orientation: Files are pre-oriented (mug is upright, bottom down)

– Infill: 5% gyroid
– Supports: Organic (tree), ~35° overhang threshold – should only generate supports under the base and handle
– Brim: not needed unless you have adhesion issues

Assembly
Insert the lower can grip into the mug and let it lock into the bottom slot. The springy tabs should face downward.
Repeat the process with the second can grip, this time placing it into the upper slot.
Next, press the can seal into the top opening of the mug.
Finally, slide the decorative rings onto the mug.
If the seal is too tight for your can, you can modify it in the slicer by subtracting a cylinder.
Place a cylinder with the diameter you need in the center of the part to create extra clearance.
I plan to make adapters for smaller cans.
