Description
This is a simple 3D-printed adapter that allows you to fit an inclinometer module—salvaged from a generic aftermarket gauge—into the factory Pajero/Montero gauge cluster, while clinging to the retro analogue look.
The module I used is this one from Amazon: Generic Inclinometer Gauge. I disassembled it to reuse the internal inclinometer bubble/dial assembly in my printed adapter.
My particular cluster is from a JDM V26W, which originally came with the altimeter, inclinometer, and compass/temperature gauges. I believe this retrofit should also fit versions with oil pressure or voltage gauges, but I haven’t confirmed—please let me know if yours is different.
As many Pajero/Montero owners know, the original inclinometer units are notorious for leaking fluid or having the internal mechanism fail. This replacement is inexpensive, easy to install, and looks very similar to the OEM unit while functioning just as well. The only compromise is that the module isn’t perfectly centered in the fascia—this was unavoidable due to the cluster’s internal structure.
Assembly:
This design reuses screws from the generic inclinometer gauge, plus one screw borrowed from the cluster itself.
2× small screws – Module to base
2× large screws – Ring to base (holding the dial over the bubble)
3× large screws – Base to cluster
Installation notes:
Be careful when working with the cluster—many of these older plastics are brittle, and overtightening screws can cause cracks.
Once fitted, the result is a clean, functional inclinometer that blends in with the OEM gauges and restores a feature many Pajeros/Monteros have lost.
