Description
I purchased a generic “filament rack” on Amazon and it worked, but wasn't particularly useful for purpose. It was a modified shoe rack and it shows. It has a front set of rails to hold 1kg spools, and a rear set to hold “small” spools.
I decided to redesign the plastic piece that joins the rods together to make the rack more useful and increase the storage capacity, while using fewer parts. The rods are 13mm diameter, 250mm (verticals) and 420mm (horizontals) in length.
The original 9-tier model can hold 40 spools of filament (5x spools per level, 8 usable levels, the bottom level isn't usable). This modified version can hold 60 (10 spools per level, 6 usable levels, including the bottom).
Printed mostly in Bambu Lab PETG-CF. The joiner pieces are split in two for printing on a 250mm class printer. Also included is a single-piece model if you want to split it yourself or print it in one piece. I glued them together with CA glue and it holds together very well. The vertical pieces hold together with a strong friction fit. A rubber mallet came in handy when assembling.
