Hitachi C10FS Motor Cover

My BELOVED Made in Japan Hitachi C10FS Miter Saw was handed down to my by my father.  While I knew it was a great saw.  For years, I kept it in great shape.  While doing some light maintenance and clean up on it in preparation for some upcoming projects I found out just what a great saw it actually is - Evidently, it is one of the best miter saws ever made!

So, I have the saw mounted on one of those portable rolling miter saw stand, and I'm working on my building-a-big-ass-shed project…  So, now it's the end of the day and I'm packing up my stuff, folding up the mobile rolley stand - go to roll the saw back into the garage and WHACK!  OH NOOO!!! I shattered the motor cover on the door jamb going into the garage.  It's in about 5 pieces, brittle plastic. Ewww… After all these years of ‘real’ abuse and nothing happened to it - THIS Happens!  Sooooooo Ticked off.  So, I figure I'll go look for spare motor covers.  I try all the regular places - nope. nope. nada. nope.  Well, I have a 3d printer and some calipers.

This is the result.  It's a little taller than it should, and not as nice as the original. I wish I had a 3d scanner, but I do not.  So, this is what you get.  It still needs work, but it'll get you back in action and protect the parts that really matter.
