Description
Z-Axis Thrust Bearing Housing for 8mm lead screw.
Background...
I had trouble with the bed tilting whenever I cleaned it. It did not move much but it did move and I could not get a consistant bed level. So I designed the bed bearers to accommodate dual z-axis lead screws to stop the teettering effect whenever I cleaned it.
I came up with this simple low cost solution to take the vertical load, but also having the lead screw locked vertically so it does not lift when possibly z-hopping.
How?
Essentailly the new lead screws are driven off the stock stepper motors by adding a GT2 pulley and belt to each side.
The two stock lead screws with stepper motors are moved towards the rear of the machine with the 4x stock vertical rod guides and frame remaining in place so as to be able to add the two new lead screws towards the front. Note all lead screws align with the new bed bearer rail I also designed.
BOM
You'll need additional lead screws and some other parts etc to make the upgrade work and it is my understanding that the Ender-5 Plus utilizes 822 lead screws (8mm OD, 2mm Pitch, 2 Starts), but CHECK your printers lead screws before ordering to match. A full BOM to come.
