Description
I wanted to add a 22" LED lightbar to my Z930M mower that was usable with the ROPS in the down position. I did not want to drill any holes. These mounts each use 3 36mm x 7mm cup magnets to attach to the front panel of the mower.
The magnets used have a claimed straight pull force of 150lb. each. They were these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CC5HMKXP
I bought a 6 piece pack for $9.99.
The lightbar I bought was this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071Z63QYB
It was $25.87, which was supposedly a “limited time deal” vs. a regular price of $39.99. They are still available at the lower price.
Two versions of the magnetic mount design are presented here. The “V2” mount is intended for a straight bar. The “V3” mount is intended for use with a curved lightbar like the one I bought. The “V3” mount requires use of a longer M8 bolt than provided with the lightbar I bought. It has a cylindrical profile and slotted opening for the bolt. A 25mm M8 worked fine. Use of a washer is recommended.
The “V2” mount could use an M8 as provided if the lightbar was straight.
Print with a UV and weather resistant material. I used ASA. Print with a large wall and surface count for strength and to provide material for the magnet mounting screws to grip. I used 3.6mm thickness for walls and 1.5mm thickness for top and bottom layers with 25% infill.
Supports are necessary for the magnet spaces. Be sure to define enough seperation (interface spacing) in both x/y and z distances to allow for easy removal/cleanout.
Fusion 360 & .STEP files are included
