Description

Folding Box Template for 400mm 10W LASER may be adjusted for other cutters. Add logo, etc.

Recycles thin corrugated cardboard into a nice interlocking box.

To cut and score box in one file, get my fork of the free and open-source SvgToGcode. My fork enables control of laser power and speed by changing color and line width from within Inkscape.

Before I had that convenience, what I would do was hide the score lines. Do the cuts in one gcode file. Put the scoring in another file, with lower power settings. And then merge the two files together.

  • Run git clone https://github.com/themanyone/SvgToGcode

  • Type cd SvgToGcode

  • Install the plugin with pip install .

  • See README for link to obtain the free Inkscape extension, updated 9/3/25

  • Put plugin extension in Inkscape's extensions directory.
    On Linux, it's in $HOME/.config/Inkscape/extensions

  • Load "box max.svg" into Inkscape.

  • Go to Extensions → J Tech Community Laser Tool
Set max speed and power of laser.
For 10W laser, use 10000 for both Travel and Cutting Speed

  • Under Advanced Setting → Tool Power Command
Set it to S%1000, or whatever the max power of the LASER is.

  • Tool Off Command
    S0

  • Below Coordinate System → Bed X Width and Bed Y Length (unit)
Set to dimensions of laser, probably 400 x 400. Or 0 for auto (doc. size).

  • Select entire box.

  • Press N for node edit.
Select and drag nodes to scale box to whatever dimensions you need.

  • Select edge and duplicate 10x, or as many times as necessary to cut thru.

  • Hit Apply and check output with a text editor before sending to LASER.
