I wanted to make an inexpensive bicycle carrier for my through axle bicycle to fit in the back of my truck.
This attachment fits over a standard 2x4. If you can make a basic 2x4 base, this can turn it in to a working bike carrier.
STEPS:
- Print bike rack and drill guide.
- Clamp the bike rack into the position you want on the 2x4
- Get a drill bit that is the same diameter (or slightly bigger) than the diameter of the thru-axle on your bicycle.
- Place the drill guide over the circular fork rest on the side (refer to picture).
- With the drill guide attached, drill a hole through the 2x4. (Without the drill guide, the hole will not be straight making attaching the bicycle difficult.)
- Once a hole is drilled all the way through the 2x4, screw it in place in the screw holes provided.
- To secure the bicycle, place the front forks on the fork rest on the bike carrier and use the thru-axle on you bike to secure it.
