Description

Simple electrostatic motor, consisting of two printed parts, some aluminum foil, 18650 lipo battery, and a 20W 3.7-6V to 200kV Boost Step Up Power Module Transformer Set High Voltage Generator (only one of the transformers is necessary.  the link contains 5 of them.

The four posts need aluminum foil to make them conductive.  Two are connected to negative and the other two to positive from the transformer.  i did post 1-pos, 2-pos, 3-neg, 4-neg

The part that spins has aluminum foil wrapped around the circumference and standard office tape wrapped a few times around it, to secure the foil in place and as an insulator.  The insulator is necessary so wrap until it stops arcing and spins instead.  I wrapped, maybe, 10 times to create a 0.5 mm in tape thickness.

Sometimes, it does not self-start, using your mouth blow on it to get it to start spinning.  BE CAREFUL blowing on this thing to get it started, if your face is to close you will receive a nice zap.  doesn't feel nice, believe me.

i used fusion360 to create this motor.  fusion360 file included so anyone can adjust the parameters to alter its dimensions.
