Hello!

Here is my version of a toolboard mount for the Orbitool O2S on the stock RatRig VCore 4 toolhead.

Since the endstop is in the way of the lower mounting standoff, I did not use it, only the top hole of the toolboard has a more direct connection to the extruder.

There are two versions:

V1:

  • uses both of the supplied M3x35 mm screws to secure the mount to the top plate / back piece
  • a longer standoff (22 mm long when used with the Smart Filament Sensor / 24 mm long when used without the Smart Filament Sensor) is required to secure the mount to the top screw of the extruder
  • a longer M3x16 mm screw is required to secure the toolboard to the standoff
  • a heatset insert is required for the hole of the mount along with a shorter M3x6 mm screw

V2:

  • uses only of the supplied M3x35 mm screws
  • the other M3x35 screw needs to be shorter by 5 mm, either source a M3x30 mm screw or cut the supplied one
  • uses the same 20mm long standoff when used in combination with the Smart Filament Sensor (a longer standoff of 22 mm is required when used without the Smart Filament Sensor)
  • a longer M3x16 mm screw is required to secure the toolboard to the standoff
  • a heatset insert is required for the hole of the mount along with a shorter M3x6 mm screw

Both versions require a new fan grill which is included and a longer connection between the filament sensor and the toolboard pins.

I also included a PTFE support bracked when running a Smart Filament Sensor. The support seems to help with unwanted triggers of the Tangle detection sensor and is mounted with a zip tie to the top of the new toolboard mount.

As I no longer run a stock toolhead nor have the O2S toolboard, I would like to ask for anyone willing to test these versions, to provide feedback if they work or what changes have to be made to improve them.

Thank you!
