Description
Inspired by and sized after the BCM grip, VFG-Insert takes up 1.5 slots and uses a single MLOK hardware pair for mounting. It's slightly angled at 5°.
The inserts for the sides use infill to generate a grip profile. After printing the primary grip piece you can print panels of different infill type and density to suit your preference. Easily swap grip panels just loosening the one MLOK bolt. Additionally, the panels are essentially blank models, so if you're capable you can add your own texture without having to design a whole grip.
The panels are held in with a slight taper at their faces and a top side tab that presses the plate into the slot when the grip is tightened into place. No rattle, looseness or chance of the panel popping out.
Pictured are the lightning pattern at 60%, hexagonal at 20% and hilbert curve at 25%.
Printing instructions- Print the grip mlok side down supporting the bottom and the top channel of the panel slot. 4 perimeters, minimum 40% infill recommended, preferably gyroid. 0.15 or 0.10 layers recommended, primarily so that the bottom of the panel slot is less ‘stepped’ from the layers and the panel flushes into place properly. Pictured grips were printed at 0.15.
For the panels, face the top retention tabs upward. 2 perimeters and 0 bottom layers. Select your infill and percentages and slice. I like to rotate to show under the bed so I can see what it roughly looks like.
Be sure and have a well dialed first layer. I personally drop my first layer speed to 10mm/s to ensure the pattern adheres perfectly.
