Description

The Tru-Point Pencil Pointer Model D was made by the Frederick Post Co. in the 1960s and 70s to sharpen lead primarily for lead holder pencils and is a rebranded Dietzgen SharPoint. This product used a consumable abrasive that was contained within a cup. It is becoming harder to find replacement consumables as they have been out of production for over 45 years. The price is making them unattractive to keep around, reducing their attractiveness to only the most enthusiastic of collectors.

This model is a direct replacement for the abrasive cup, keeping these incredible pencil pointers out of landfills and operating for decades (centuries?) more. Just remember to oil the center bearing on the lid every now and then!

Print the cup and the template. Cut out sandpaper using the template and apply to the inside of the cup after doing a test fit. The template cuts the sandpaper exactly to size so it likely needs a very, very small trim at the end. You can use spray adhesive or find some sandpaper that has a sticky backing. 400 grit seems to be a good one to start with.
