Big Picture Hooks

I needed some jumbo picture hooks to hang my huge (~150x108cm) world domination map on the wall. Last time I hung it I fixed a 1m wooden batten to the wall using rawlplugs and screws, and that worked fine, but I now have a 3d printer, so...

I started with 'Big Picture Hook' but after printing thought a few tweaks would make it much stronger. So I came up with the wedge version. 

Printing & Supports

I printed the initial 'Big Picture Hook' in Polymaker Blue PETG at 0.2mm layer heights and it looks lovely, but this is probably overkill. For the Wedge version, I used 0.3mm layer heights. This should be more than adequate for an item that will never be seen and needs to be strong rather than pretty. 

I used 30% infill, but this is also probably overkill. I read somewhere that extra perimeters were a much better way to add strength to a part. So learn from my mistakes- and make your own!

Supports required only on the part between the base and tab in both cases. These are annoying to remove, but I can't see a way around this without increasing the height of the part. Picture hooks should be low profile. 

Build

Print it, remove the supports, measure up, check for electrical or plumbing behind the wall, fix it to your wall using the appropriate fixings, and hang your world domination plans, or original Rembrandt on it. 

If they are world domination plans, maybe check whether the hanging position can be seen from outside your window before starting.
