Description
My Next Gen Cable Winder Design optimized for daily use in school. The cable is pulled out in one direction only, thus facilitating mobile use.
The winder holds 1-3m of USB-C cable, depending on the diameter. Pick the size fitting your needs. The 80×20 version holds well a braided 1 m USB-C cable with Ø5 mm. The 80×24 catches up to 3 m of Ø4 mm cable.
The Stacking Rings make it easy to stack multiple winders, keeping everything well organized.
Print in Place (both rings together) with standard slicer setup (0.4 mm nozzle, 0.2 mm layers, 2 perimeters, 15% infill). It is tempting to print with more perimeters, but experience shows then prints to fail. Reduced print temperature (-10 °C) might be helpful. The design uses a 0.35 mm gap for good printability.
PLA+ and PLA are recommended materials due to their high stiffness. More flexible materials (PETG, ASA, ABS) may be problematic and may lead to disassembly of the rings. Use at your own risk.
DO NOT SCALE the model. See my original Next Gen Cable Winder design for more sizes, the parametric Fusion 360 source and more printing tips.
