Kokoda Track 3D Map

A 3D map of the famous Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea, along which Allied forces, mainly Australians, fought a series of battles against the Japanese in World War 2. It's now a bucket list item for many people to walk the full 96km long trail.

I made this earlier this year for someone as a custom model, thought some others might like it so uploading it here now.

Model has the real terrain with exaggerated z-scale, the trail and some stops along the trail.

Looks best in dark green, and a lighter colour such as white or yellow for the trail and text. Use the separate model into parts feature in your slicer and colour the parts accordingly (or just use the Bambu Studio 3MF). You can also use the same model to print in a single colour, If printing in a single colour, I think it looks cool in a tri-colour PLA silk filament.

• Scale: 1: 416667  (with terrain height exaggerated 3.5 times)
• Dimensions: 124 x 156 x 41 mm
• Needs supports just for the bottom of the cantilevered part of the sign.
• Needs Arachne Wall generation, and is a bit slow to slice as a result.

Recommended Print Settings

• 0.2mm Layer Height
• 2 Walls
• 15% Gyroid Sparse Infill globally (but Adaptive Cubic pattern for the terrain part)
• Arachne Wall Generation
• Split into parts of the same object, with colours assigned to the parts.
• Colour painting for the main Kokoda Track sign for the text
• Manual tree supports for the bottom of the cantilevered part of the sign.
