Description
Rev 01 - I printed this again _rev_05 in trial version , obvious side down this time, again in PLA-CF and with nozzle temp 215-210C and bed temperature 35-32C. The rev-05 design revisions included (a) adding sizable chamfers to the bottom edges of the box section to limit the area of the overhang and (b) a post-printing snip-off sprue much like what one might do if they were injection molding the part. All stringing at the end of the wings has now been eliminated by printing the part right side up. The stringing in the box compartment which I had originally feared, by not using supports, is at leat significantly improved. I will next consider the published ‘trick’ for printing holes in overhangs.
This wireless backup camera manufacturer AUTO-VOX had provided a metal bracket for attachment of the camera to the license plate but the camera was attached via a single TINY screw and zero protection for the camera against bumps either accidentally or deliberately afflicted upon it. My part adds a bit of theft deterrent as well. I might even Loctite the license mounting screws for added theft deterrent.
Instead of wiring mine into the reverse light I connected it directly to the rear mounted car battery for continuous operation, which I prefer. I will add a pass-though for the cable intyo the trunk.
