Description
The Bacofoil Easycut cling film dispenser is a good product, but the refills are not available in my local supermarket, and they only seem to come in packs of 3 or more on Amazon, which is vastly more cling film than most people need to have to hand.
So I bought some cling film from Lidl, assuming I could just put it in the Bacofoil dispenser. But NO, despite the roll being the correct width, the diameter of the core was smaller and would not rotate in the Bacofoil dispenser. The roll's own cardboard dispenser box started falling apart as they always do, so the obvious answer, the only possible course of action, was to recreate the end caps of the Bacofoil dispenser but with smaller axles so the Lidl roll would work. And so I did.
I simplified the design so that rather than having one end with a removable middle for reloading, you use the lugs I added to the right end to simply pull it out. The fitting pins on the right end are shorter than those on the left end to make it easier to pull out.
The new end caps have 20mm axles, which work with the brand shown in the photo and any other that is roughly 35cm long and with a core internal diameter of at least 21mm.
I printed the ends in PETG, 0.4mm nozzle, 0.3mm Draft, 10% gyroid infill, with Archimedean Chords top & bottom fill patterns.
Incidentally, if the hinge on the dispenser breaks due to wear (nothing to do with this mod), the lid can be reattached by drilling four 3mm holes diagonally and passing small cable ties through them as shown in the 3rd photo.
