Description
This simple dual bracket piece, or “fixing block” as Qidi calls it, can accept both the stock spool holder and the hub for the Qidi Box that would normally take up the spool holder spot. Now you can attach both at the same time! It works with fxwoody's 3kg spool holder and stew675's angled spool holder as well. If you are using a lid riser and/or keeping the box on top of the printer, you will likely need to use one of those alternate spool holders instead of the stock one. The bracket also has 2 sets of mounting holes so that you can mount the hub either to the left of the spool holder or to the right, whichever works best for your setup. Huge credit goes to Garent for his very helpful input and for doing literally all of the Box-related testing before I got my own Qidi Box, as well as providing the first photos of the complete assembly.
V1.0 Settings: Assuming you're printing this on the Plus 4 itself, I highly recommend using the 0.2mm Speedy Quality profile with the support settings shown in the pictures above. MAKE SURE you have the “Independent support layer height” box checked. It will be hidden unless you uncheck the Prime Tower “Enable” box in the Multicolor settings tab. I think pretty much any filament should be fine for this. I printed mine in PLA and it seems to hold a 1kg spool just fine. It's probably a good idea to have calibrated shrinkage before printing (you can use Stew's calibration cross to do that), especially if using a shrink-prone filament. If the overhangs droop or warp too much, causing the fit to be too tight, try changing the “Top Z distance” setting to 0.1mm. Support should break away easily by pushing down on the edges of the top interface with your fingernail
V2.0 Settings: V2 is designed to print in the vertical orientation with no supports! Place the model with the open end of the "rails" facing up, as shown in the OrcaSlicer screenshot above. As smartly suggested by a few users, I also added a hole for accessing a back panel screw of the printer that was made inaccessible with V1. Just like V1, pretty much any rigid filament will do for this part. Just make sure your filament profile is tuned, including shrinkage.
