Description
Here, you can see the add-ons I created for the Stormbird model by StuntDouble (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6174038).
1. FPV System Add-Ons
Due to my vision condition, I can only use box-type goggles in combination with prescription glasses. Therefore, I am limited to analog FPV systems.
Most existing FPV add-ons for this model are for digital systems, so I made my own set.
Here, you can find front canopy variants for the following VTX:
All of these canopies are designed for use with the RushFPV Cherry II MMCX antenna.
Print them in PLA+ or another filament that you have used for the other parts of the plane.
2. Mount for the RunCam Thumb W action camera.
This mount uses a TPU part, which is shipped with the Thumb, and it mounts above a 19 mm FPV camera using the same bolts that hold the camera in place (the bolts need to be 2 mm longer than usual). It is designed for use with the original Canopy Front Walksnail Camera 19x19mm.stl accessory or with published here remixes.
Print it in PLA+ or another filament that you have used for the other parts of the plane.
3. Flight controller tray with a place for the RX underneath.
It is used to mount ELRS or Crossfire RX.
Print it in PLA+ or another filament that you have used for the other parts of the plane.
4. Fuselage insert for the ESC.
This part is held in place by the carbon fiber tube, so it should be installed before mounting the wings. It is also better to route the servo wires before installation, as you may need to disassemble the wire headers to put them through if you decide to do this later.
Print it in PLA+ or another filament that you have used for the other parts of the plane.
5. Hatch top with GPS shelf.
The thin plastic shell has basically no effect on reception, but it protects the GPS module from damage and the elements.
Print it in PLA+ or another filament that you have used for the other parts of the plane.
6. GPS Mounts.
For three different modules:
7. Rear antenna mounts.
I use a diversity 2.4 GHz ELRS RX in this plane. It has two antennas. I mounted one vertically using a styrofoam block in the battery bay and mounted the second horizontally in the rear part of the fuselage using these mounts that were glued in.
