Description
Imagine this: you’re cruising along with your 9000+ PET bottle-pulling machines, cranking out tons of filament. Piles of little coils surround you, but you can’t help thinking, “I wish I could make this one long strand so I could print it like a real boy.”
You look up into the trees wistfully as the hum of your machine slows… when suddenly, an owl descends before your very eyes. It pecks at something, then soars away. Such beauty…
WAIT—that’s it! Take two pieces of filament, feed them into a hot end, squish them together, and cool them down.
Now all this idea needs is a name. Hot Welder? Hot Melder? Hmm… oh! Maybe the owl—HOOT MELDER.
That’s right, everyone—this is an alternate version of the Meld filament joiner, designed for the Recreator 3D Mk6 base. I rearranged a few things, created a flashier housing, and started working on automating it. I haven’t gotten very far yet (life gets in the way—mainly my job), but I’m uploading the files here for you to experiment with. Print one out, put it together, and have fun!
For now I have just added a 3d model showing the sort of assembled toolhead. I will have to create documentation later. If you can figure out how to put it together and would like to take a crack at helping me out with the grpahics for an assembly guide I would be more than thrilled. Who knows when I will be able to really pour more time into this? You are downloading these files knowing I may never be able to get back to them but also hopefully because you love to mod and tweak these little machines as much as I do!
Hooty Melding!
