Description
Slowly getting back into models after taking last week off. Ideally I would have done more but here we are on a Thursday with only a few done (eep!)
Here is Lord Soth a death knight from Dragonlance. I'm currently reading Knight of the Black Rose featuring him entering Barovia so I've got Soth on my mind. The books talks about how he was a virtuous knight and the main evidence of his downfall from grace is his infidelity and jealousy (ok maybe a bit of secondhand uxoricide), leading him to not fulfill his duty save the day and ultimately bringing ruin upon the realm - then kinda some more uxoricide and infanticide on top. This doesn't seem like enough to turn him into an uber death knight so I imagine there was a steady progression from lawful good to lawful neutral to lawful evil with bouts of chaos up to his death. Not to downplay his story beat evils I'm thinking the real cause was a steady participation in war crimes.
For the process I did use AI but I threw out most of the original model. I should have probably worked from scratch but here we are. Lots of little sculpting on his armor, helm, boots and cape. The skeletal hands are from my hands collection. The Sword and Sheath is a remix is one of my swords. The boots (aka Croissant booties) are something I came up with working from the AI foot as a base. I raised and bevelled areas where I could and other times I had to sculpt them in because I didn't have edge loops to achieved the raised aesthetic that I wanted.
In the end this has too much detail to be sustainable if I want to get to 3 models per day but also good practice and makes the next model take less time.
I kinda would like to have an attack pose of Soth so I might remix this later with two hands on his sword. TBD.
As always thanks for following along, hope you're having a great day :)!
