Bringing a sword to a blaster fight may not always be the best idea, but if you're going to do it , pool noodles feel a lot better with a decent handle.
I've been using Triple G's pool noodle swords as a last ditch melee weapon at nerf wars for the past year. They work great but are kind of basic looking. I wanted something fancier with a disk pommel, and what more appropriate disk is there than the indomitable Vortex Disk.
Just print it out and screw it into a pool noodle, no supports, glue or fancy settings needed, but a brim probably wouldn't hurt. You could probably do 100% infill on the pommel part if you actually wanted it to kinda act like a counterweight. There are a bunch of noodles with different sized holes, so this probably won't fit all of them. I used a “Super Noodle” from Ace hardware. I recommend cutting the noodle down to 24" or less, this allows it to stay fairly rigid. A serrated bread knife makes easy clean cuts. I was able to make 2 from one noodle.
