Description
Saw the stock shark fin chain protector was 45 bucks and didnt appreciate that for such a simple part.
I decided to make a better one that resembles something a bit more protective, hopefully keeping branches out of that rear sprocket.
If you have a bigger rear sprocket this might not work so hot. If you do and you try it, let me know. I would be happy to adjust a design so it can work.
The bottom is designed to slide out and be replaceable, or just let you swap the chain without too much effort.
I added a file for a new slider piece. It has an angle to it so the chain will rub the back side a bit less. You can print this at an angle or with the screw side down and supports enabled. Supports will be necessary. 3mf file included.
We are still testing this one, but I would say printing solid from PETG would be the safest bet. If you have the skill and filament, Nylon would be even better!
Supports arent needed but might help bridge the bolt holes
3 M4x45mm socket head bolts should fit about perfect.
3 M4 Nylock Nuts
M6 for mounting, should be able to use the stock bolts, but I dont have mine.
The holes are set up for Nylock nuts and I would recommend that, but did not have any around for the initial building. A tiny bit of thread lock probably would also work just fine.
