Description
Here is a PT100/PT1000 thermistor mount for an Ender 3 NG v1.2!
It is designed to have a look similar to the Ender 3 NG v1.2's original parts. There's a cable tunnel on the back that gently holds the thermistor in-place with its own cable. No heat set inserts or grub screws! Mount it anywhere in your NG using a M4 screw and T nut, just like the Y stop of your NG!
I recommend mounting your thermistor just above the bed of your NG at the 0 Z position, on the right side of your printer (opposite side of the Y stop). Then, run your thermistor's cable through the extrusion's gap on the bottom, and neatly attach the cable using these extrusion clips. Run the cable into the electronics panel by routing it through the little (unused) cable slot on the right side.
Chamber heat is intended to prevent printed parts from warping. It does this by keeping your parts hot, and therefore expanded, during the duration of the print. However, what matters most is that the temperature of the currently-printed layer is consistent during the print, and not necessarily the chamber heat! By having the thermistor just over the bed, it'll read a temperature that is artificially high because the bed is also heating the thermistor, but this is more consistent with the actual layer temperature.
As the bed drops while the part prints, the bed will influence the current layer less. Since the thermistor is about the same level, it will read a lower temperature, too, just like the current layer. While this doesn't necessarily ensure accurate chamber heat, it actually ensures a more accurate layer temperature, which is what you want.
While this part was designed to be a chamber thermistor mount for the Ender 3 NG v1.2, it can be used as a temperature mount on any printer with aluminum extrusions, for any purpose. This will work great inside the electronics panel of the NG too, to get temperature readings of the panel itself! You can also include two or more thermistors in various locations inside your chamber to get readings in various locations, too.
Includes left and right cable sides so you can choose which side the thermistor cable tucks into the mount.
