Description
This is a direct replacement for the stock front cover of the Sovol Zero and Sovol SV08 Max toolheads.
Besides improving part cooling performance, it also adds support for a dedicated toolboard fan (2510 size).
We tested the part cooling performance of the Sovol SV08, SV08 Max, and Sovol Zero using an anemometer 📏
Even with the same fan, airflow results were very different!
✅ Stock results:
SV08: 6.6–6.7 m/s - For Reference!
SV08 Max / Zero: 7.6–7.7 m/s
Then we swapped only the front shroud/cover with our CN3D upgrade → airflow jumped to 8.0 m/s 🚀
No fan change, no duct change—just our shroud!
This is only the beginning—we’ve made more upgrades coming in the next video, so stay tuned 🔔
See the benefits in the Video below
Direct drop-in replacement, no other mods required
Improved airflow → higher part cooling performance
Integrated mount for a 2510 toolboard fan (no need for a larger fan)
Compatible with both Sovol Zero and Sovol SV08 Max toolheads
📦 Bill of Materials (BOM)
1× 2510 axial fan (24V)
Recommended: GDS TIME 2510, 24V https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oDKZkqT
4x M3x4.5ODx4mm Heat set inserts https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_c4B6hghP
4x 4x3 N52 Magnets https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_okg1u0n Or reuse stock
Material:
Recommended: ABS
Optional: AERO ASA (for lighter weight & higher stability)
Slicer Settings:
Perimeters: 4
Top layers: 5
Bottom layers: 5
Infill: 10% Gyroid
Supports:
Use Organic auto-generated supports
Disable Small Overhangs in the Support tab
Recommended fan: 2510, 24V, ~0.06A
For Sovol Zero:
Connect to PA2 and 24V (see wiring diagram in repo)
Same pins listed above can be used! the toolhead boards are the same!
Either splice into the hotend fan wiring Or use a small MOSFET for safe control You can use the BLTouch port (24V available) — but even with low fan current, it’s recommended to use a MOSFET
toolhead_fan and configure it to turn on when extruder > 50 °C[generic_fan toolboard_fan]
pin: extra_mcu:PA2
heater: extruder
heater_temp: 50.0Simple and reliable
Fan switches ON when the extruder > 50 °C
Fan switches OFF when the extruder cools down
No extra sensor needed
✅ Best if you just want a “follow the hotend” fan behavior
OR
[temperature_fan toolboard]
pin: extra_mcu:PA2
control: watermark
max_delta: 3.0
sensor_type: temperature_mcu
sensor_mcu: extra_mcu
min_temp: 0
max_temp: 100
target_temp: 38.0
max_power: 1.0 # 100%
shutdown_speed: 1.0Uses the MCU’s internal temperature sensor
Fan ramps automatically to keep MCU around 38 °C
More precise thermal control, especially in enclosed printers
Will stay on even if the hotend is cold, if the MCU is heating up
✅ Best for toolhead boards inside hot chambers (like SV08 Max with enclosure)
For open printers (or if you want simplicity): use Option 1 (generic_fan).
For enclosed printers or if you want the fan only when the MCU gets hot: use Option 2 (temperature_fan).
If you decide to splice the hotend fans no need to declare nothing in Klipper! |
