Description
Ok, so this took me a while to get right and still mistakes were made and let me warn you, it is a bit tricky to put together but I did have fun with it and so I hope you do too.
Version 1 can be found on my Patreon (link below, membership free) and is a bit.. quirky. You see I tied the reload to the mag release and it worked (reloaded) but it also reloaded again when you re-inserted the mag and it was prone to just dropping out on its own as there isn't much spring in the nunchuk buttons so, back to the drawing board.
Version 2 is a more solid mechanism but it does throw realism out the window in exchange for it being more sturdy and fun. Now to reload you pull back on the operating rod handle and with the rubber/elastic band installed it returns forward again. I guess it's sort of like a lever action now but with a different type of lever.
Anyway, some things to look out for: the butt stock is split into two parts and the front part where the nunchuk slides into is a tight fit. It is supposed to have a split at the top so that it bends when you push the nunchuk in. Make sure to have all the slack cable inserted into the butt stock with it running along the channel and into the receiver part. The butt stock is pretty thin material-wise and can be fragile (I printed it at .16 layer height) so handle with care while assembling. Once it is all together though it is fine.
The Fbarrel part is just for decoration, it makes it look more like the real thing but it does also obscure the wii sensor so you need to remove it before use. The Fstock where the wiimote goes is also a bit thin skinned along the sides so be careful when you slot the Fbarrel in as it can crack the side apart, it's been fine inserting the wiimote in and out tho'
Plug the nunchuck in after the Receiver and Fstock parts are together otherwise you won't get the Receiver part in.
I will apologise now for how hard it is to unplug the nunchuk from the wiimote if you need to get it apart. You will need to slide a flat tool down either side to engage the side buttons so it lets go. I used some small metal tweasers and it's not hard once you done it but it is fiddly.
The FStock and Receiver parts will require suppports to be used. I try to design things without needing them but unfortunately sometimes I design myself into a corner, I use tree hybrid types and they come off easy. All the parts are oriented in the way you should print them so if you enable supports your slicer should apply them automagically.
Good luck with the build and give me a comment if you need some help :)
