Description

For those of you who do not always want to use a metal blade on your PEI sheets, many people use plastic razor blades. This is designed to fit the printable elegoo scraper. It is a little longer than the metal blade from Elegoo because I wanted to use it at a lower angle.

For those of you who do not have an elegoo printer (the file is usually part of the test prints), the STL files can be downloaded here: ELEGOO 3D Printers, Arduino Kits & Robots Tutorials Download – ELEGOO Official

It is plastic, so it does tend to wear out over time. But at 2gm of filament and only 5min to print on the CC, it is easy enough to replace.

I would recommend PLA over PETG since it is a bit stiffer and should last longer. I have not tried carbon filaments (which should be more rigid) since this is meant to be a cheap replaceable blade (although if you have just a short fragment of PLA-CF filament at the end of a roll that you are not sure what to do with, feel free to print one and tell me how it holds up!). Also, if you print with the first layer very thin, it will not hold up as long).

Currently I recommend PLA, a first layer of 0.3 mm and other layers 0.1. It

Version 2 basically makes the first 0.3 mm the same dimensions so you should be able to print the standard 1st layer at 0.2mm and the rest at 0.1mm and have the overall outcome.

Version 3: Changed the slope at the end of the blade to improve durability.

There are 3 models:

V3: this is extended for when you need a blade that needs to get under a larger print. It is designed to be used in the upside down orientation.  It is designed to be longer than the metal blade from Elegoo because I wanted to use it at a lower angle and still have the blade touch the bed.  It is a lot easier to get the blade under a larger model if the handle can be laid flat and the blade still touches the base.

V3 extra wide: Same rationale as the V3, but the edges go out so you can pry the initial filament off the bed without needing to put the actual handle on the bed (I try to avoid getting any skin oils on the bed so I do not need to clean it as much)

V3 reverse: this is actually the standard orientation, but the edges go out slightly to help if you just want to pry an edge

I also designed a simple holder that can be mounted to the side of the Elegoo CC (or any magnetic frame/enclosure) which can be found here: https://www.printables.com/model/1428487-magnetic-side-holder-for-elegoo-scraper
