Description
Not many have dabbed into shifter cable bushings for this car. For other manual cars, many performance shops do this as soon as the new car is released. But it's been 6 years since the release of the Veloster N with nothing. Only one company has a product out for cable bushings but it's only confirmed for the i30N. It is also only available in the UK, which makes it not very feasible to ship over to the US due to shipping fees.
So this is my solution to replacing those horrible OEM bushings. Using things that are readily available on Amazon so you can actually get this car up and running within the same week.
1x Flage Sleeve Bearing Bronze - 8mm bore, 12mm OD, 12mm length (required)
1x Flange Sleeve Bearing Bronze - 8mm bore, 12mm OD, 15mm length (recommended, the 12mm long one can be used as a stand in if money is tight or if you don't want to order 2 sets of different size sleeves)
2x M3x20 Button Head Screw Stainless (required, can be sourced at Ace Hardware)
2x M3-0.5 Nut Stainless (required, also at Ace)
4x M3 Washer Stainless (required, also at Ace)
A roll of 95A TPU (required, obviously, what is linked is what I used but you can use whatever 95A TPU you prefer)
1/8" drill bit with a drill (required for notching out some plastic out of the OEM cable ends)
Springs (Not required, Just in case you lose the OEM ones).
Speeds for first layer set at 20 for walls and infill
Speeds for everything else is 40, walls and infill
Concentric infill
100% infill
Fan speeds slow, 25% and lower
This is now confirmed to work on the Elantra N! The install is exactly the same too!
I have changed out the head cap screw with a button head screw. This eliminates the need for the M8 washer as there is now clearance between the shifter linkage on the trans and the button head screws.
