Description
Mobile and connectors:
The hook connector has a ball joint and is freely rotating. My tolerance is: holes designed with +0.2mm holes, press to fit works well with my 9mm and 18mm rods.
Wood length recommendations:
I attached it with my own design for a ChiccoNext2Me Co-sleeper compatible clamp.
Clamp for Chicco Next2Me:
I recommend printing in PETG for extra stability with at least 20% infill and 5 perimeters and extra solid layers on the bottom and top. I printed it with 0.3mm layer height and 0.6mm nozzle for increased printing speed. I printed mine with organic supports on two points of the sliding ledge for the moving part (see 3mf file).
After printing, you need to free the moveable part a little bit, insert the nut, then when you start screwing in the bolt from the outside, it will help it loosen the part properly. I recommend tightening it all the way and loosening it again a few times, before using it on the actual co-sleeper. I had quite a few iterations with this, to not have it bend / loosen after a few days. Thus is became a lot thicker and sturdier than the initial design. I hope it works for you!
Extra models provided / links:
Fun little (useful) project to do at 9months pregnant! 😂
For balancing, you can either use the rings provided, or like myself use wood beads that have 9-10mm holes in them. (E.g. https://www.amazon.nl/dp/B098T8G56L?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 PandaHall Natural Round Wooden Beads 20mm Unfinished Wood Ball Spacer Loose Beads for Macrame Crafts, DIY Jewelry Making Home Decor, Hole: 9-10mm, 50pcs).
I highly recommend using a string set up to a top connector as in my design, as it hugely improves the possibility for making it hang balanced and stay balanced even if you touch or move the bed. I could have done with a neater tying job, but in the end could not be bothered anymore….
For the hangers I recommend anything lightweight (no risk of injury). Can be printed (e.g. my cat and butterfly spinning ornament: or whatever safe/lightweight items you want - sew them, or buy them from ikea :) ).
Word of caution/disclaimer:
Please always ensure everything is stable and that there is no risk for danger/injury to your child. I take no responsibility for your prints/their safety during usage. After setting mine up, I left it set up for at least a week to verify, that it does not tilt by itself and remains stable. I recommend never leaving the mobile with your baby hung up unsupervised. The mobile can easily be removed from the hook for nap times.
