Description
There are several models out there which allow you to add the Gridfinity system to your Mini Systainer. Besides simple grid models, some guys designed some interesting models that use the available space more effectively, for example, score9 used some custom-sized Gridfinity bins at the back and schuylab used the space at the front for some additional small storage. However, all models I found were lacking some simple feature I needed: they do not offer a (printable) lid cover. So, once you hold the Systainer upside down, parts can move from one storage bin to another, especially when using the SYS3 S 76 due to its lid design (see pictures).
My model comes with the full package:
This model is designed specially for the SYS3 S 76 which comes with partitions. I know there are other/older versions of a Mini Systainer available. As far as I know the lid design is different. So the lid cover of this model will not fit on those Systainers. The dimensions of the main compartment may be the same, but I don't know for sure. You have to test it. Feedback welcome :-)
I wanted to have a lid cover such that items cannot move between bins once the box is held upside down. So the lid cover needs to have a very small distance to the top of the bins. The dimensions of the bins are given by the Gridfinity spec. A height of 6u (+ stacking lip) fits into the Systainer. But to get the top of the bins close to the lid cover, I had to make the base thicker/higher.
There are two types of bins used for my model: standard-sized and custom-sized.
To utilize all available space of the Systainer a custom-sized grid was added at the back (the last row). Since you will not find models for those dimensions I added them here.
But I also added models for standard Gridfinity dimensions. This is because models vary in their total height. Some bin models use a stacking lip, some don't. Some models have higher or smaller stacking lips and so on. Since I wanted to ensure parts cannot move between bins, I decided to add the models here as well. But of course, you can use whatever model you want. Just take care of the bin's height. My 6u bins have a total height of 46mm. If your desired model is taller it may hit the lid cover. If it is too small, parts may move around when the Systainer is held upside down.
FYI: The bins were generated using the Gridfinity Workbench of FreeCAD.
