Description
I've been painting minis for more years than I care to admit (especially given how bad I still am at it) and have used a lot of painting handles. I bought a lot, gotten a few as con swag, and backed even more on Kickstarter. All of them have been great and had all sorts of options for customization and other gimmicks but I came to the conclusion that I just wanted something dead simple, so I came up with this.
It's a contoured handle with a threaded hole in the top that allows you to screw a platform of varying size snugly into it. That's it. No magnets. No additional hardware. No moving parts or rubber bands. Just print 2 parts with no supports required and go. (Bring you own adhesive to hold the mini to the platform).
I designed this a few years ago - teaching myself FreeCAD in the process - and have refined and added to it over the years. I have been painting using these handles exclusively in that time.
I hope you get as much use out of this design as I have!
Handle toppers:
Storage - Gridfinity:
Pretty much any settings and most materials will do, but I really like these for the paint handle. It gets a nice grippy texture and looks great:
For the round toppers, just make sure they're upside down (how the file is oriented) and you're good to go!
