Clinical simulation is a powerful way to prepare both students and professionals for real-life healthcare situations. Still, some of the simplest tools used every day in hospitals can be tricky to bring into training. One example is the rigid suction catheter, often called a Yankauer.
These catheters are essential for airway management—from clearing secretions during resuscitation to advanced techniques like SALAD (Suction Assisted Laryngoscopy and Airway Decontamination). In clinical practice, they’re disposable for safety reasons. But for teaching, that creates a problem: they’re fragile, expensive, and not meant for repeated use.
That’s why I created a 3D-printable Rigid Suction Catheter Prop. It’s a durable, realistic, and reusable alternative designed to make airway training smoother and more accessible.
âś… Features:
Realistic shape for easy recognition and hands-on learning
Strong, reusable design for repeated practice
Open lumen design—connect it to a vacuum source to practice suctioning or SALAD on manikins
âš Note: This is a simulation training prop only. It is not a certified medical device and must never be used with real patients.
🎯 Best for:
Airway management and suction training
SALAD technique practice
ALS (Advanced Life Support) courses
Trauma and emergency simulations
Interprofessional team training
