Description

I have tested this to fit eSun, PolyMaker, and Amazon Basics spools. Minimum ID for the spool must be at least 61mm. Depending on the exact width of the slots for the drive dogs to engage, you may have to "encourage" them to fit in. Gen1 fit eSun spools great, but had to be persuaded into PM or AB spools. Gen2 (this one) should fit both without requiring any persuasion... but spools change and YMMV.

This is designed to sit on an 8mm threaded rod. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you use bolts to firmly clamp the main piece to the threaded rod ON BOTH SIDES as that friction is the only thing coupling the drive piece to the threaded rod and your drill motor.

I would recommend at least 120-150mm of threaded rod. I cut mine longer to use with a filament roller stand... but that idea didn't really turn out to be that helpful.

The clamp plate is technically optional... it is just there to keep the spool from falling off. Just a regular M8 nut to keep the plate from walking off the end.

If you would like another size, just let me know.

Print Settings

Printer:

RatRig V-Core 3

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Notes:

At least 3 perimenters/shells. 4-5 would be better. PLA is fine as long as it is a drop-in fit... if you need to push it in to the spool, PETG would be better.
