Modron Planar Incarnate, Gargantuan Fiend (DND / TTRPG)

Last week I got onto a thread from on r/turnoffortuneswheel and there was interest in a Modron Planar Incarnate. I had so much fun with my Decaton Modron that I decided to give this one a whirl too. I ended up spending my entire week of modelling time on this. My hands are cramping as I'm writing this. This was a fairly large undertaking and a mix of hard surface and sculpting. I looked at using AI tools for this but they didn't do it justice. I'm not sure if my work here did much better but I spent a lot of time on it and learnt a lot so at least there's that.

The source image has this guy kinda exploding so there isn't much to go on in terms of how many legs it should have and how they should attach so I took a lot of creative liberties here. I was aiming towards a crab shell and kinda landed on a beetle shell. I think it still looks kinda neat tho.

When putting this together I used a lot of manifold booleans so the final geometry definitely had some issues but it doesn't seem to throw errors in orca slicer or blender so I think we're good.

For printing I have added a 3mf file for FDM with separate parts. The files should be fine for resin printers with auto supports but you might want to hollow the main body and add drain holes (the part holes would be a good spot for those).

I have lofty ideas of filling the interior space with LEDs and making an eye socket for folks who want to print a transparent eye. Also I would like to flatten out the back and add a 25mm placeholder since parties fighting this will definitely have someone say "I'm going to jump on top of it!" so I might make and post a V2 at some point - lmk if you would be interested in this.
