Description
As an homage to Mexico's capital city, Dany Sánchez of MiniWorld3D created the most complete set of its landmarks and famous buildings circa 2015. There are many buildings in the set, so it is published in parts, each containing a few buildings following a theme.
They challenge what a building looks like and dip into the sculptural and artistic side of architecture. This includes the Soumaya Museum, Twin Towers (Residencial del Bosque) in Polanco, and the Torres de Satélite.
The Museo Soumaya opened in 2011, designed by architect Fernando Romero. It is a non-profit, private museum that has one of the largest and most important collections of historical art in Mexico, from pre-Hispanic art to European masters. It has a unique shape and is covered in hexagonal aluminum plates.
The twin towers of Polanco, officially named "Residencial Del Bosque" were designed by archtect César Pelli, author of the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, hence the resemblance. They were finished in 1996 and are 128 m tall. This particular model was updated in 2021 with more detail.
Lastly, the Torres de Satélite are some of the first large-scale urban sculptures in Mexico. Desgined by renowned Mexican architect Luis Barragán, painter Jesús Reyes Ferreira and sculptor Mathias Goeritz, they were unvelied in 1958. They are painted in primary colors and white, and the tallest is 52 m.
